Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Consult your Doctor
We always recommend you consult your physician or a suitable health professional to discuss which ingredients and products you can use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Beta hydroxy acids (BHA’s) and alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s)
Using beta hydroxy acids (BHA’s) such as salicylic acid and alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) such as glycolic acid are generally considered to be safe for use during pregnancy when used at low levels. We always recommend you consult a healthcare professional.
Avoid Retinoids
We recommend you avoid the use of retinoids during pregnancy or breastfeeding and we always recommend you consult a healthcare professional.
Products which contain retinoids are:
- Gold Eye Lift (contains Retinol)
- Gold Night Drops (contains Retinol)
- Illumineye C (contains Retinol)
- Midnight Renewal (contains Retinol)
- Advanced Skin Renewal Booster for Hydrafacial (contains Retinyl Palmitate).
Avoid Certain Essential Oils
We recommend you avoid Budapest Bath Oil during pregnancy and breastfeeding as it contains a mix of essential oils e.g. sage oil which may not be suitable for use during pregnancy. We always recommend you consult a healthcare professional.
Click here for more information on essential oils and pregnancy (this link will take you off the Omorovicza website).
What is the Difference Between Retinol and Retinal?
Retinol and Retinal are Both Classed as Retinoids
Retinoids are a group of compounds derived from vitamin A.
Retinol contains an alcohol (-OH) end group which oxidises within the skin to form retinaldehyde or retinal. The aldehyde (-CHO) end group is then further oxidised within the skin to form retinoic acid which contains a carboxylic acid (-COOH) end group. The resulting complex is the active form of vitamin A and activates retinoic acid receptors (RAR’s) within the skin to provide a multitude of benefits.
The Benefits of Retinol and Retinal
Both Retinol and Retinal provide the same well-aging/anti-aging benefits by stimulating fibroblasts to produce collagen fibres to combat fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin elasticity whilst boosting cell proliferation to refine skin texture and tone.
Does Retinol or Retinal Work Faster?
The difference between the two ingredients is down to their efficacy.
Retinal works much faster (11X) than Retinol due to less conversion steps required in the metabolic pathway to retinoic acid meaning it gives efficacious results and fast.

What if Retinoids Irritate my Skin?
Our Products
We aim to formulate our products to be efficacious yet gentle but sensitivity may occur dependent on your skin type and use.
Try Products One at a Time
We recommend trying one new product at a time so you don’t overload your skin with new ingredients/actives.
Gradually Introduce a New Product into your Regime
Introduce a new product in stages so you can build up a tolerance. For example, you could start by using the product every other evening before using each day.
Give Your Skin Time
It can take the skin some time to adapt to a new product so we recommend trialling for 4-6 weeks.
When to Discontinue Use
If irritation persists over time in the form of redness, dryness or flaking, we recommend to discontinue use.
What is the level of Salicylic Acid in relevant products?

- Silver Skin Lotion: 0.12 %

How do you use Exfoliating Acids like AHA's and BHA's?
How do they Work?
Chemical exfoliants such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA’s) work by breaking the bonds which hold skin cells together. This helps to shed the top layers of the skin to reveal fresh, rejuvenated skin which is smoother and more even.
Types of Acids and What they are Used For
There are a range of AHA’s including glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid and malic acid which work on the surface of the skin. BHA’s such as salicylic acid can penetrate deeper into the skin as it is oil-soluble.
Acids and Sun Sensitivity
Exfoliating acids can make the skin more sensitive during sun exposure so we would always recommend the use of an SPF during the day.
Acids and Skin Irritation
Using too many exfoliating acids can sometimes irritate the skin if you have not built up your tolerance. It is always a good idea to patch test your skin to check for any irritation before regular usage.
